• Preemptive - taking action in advance to prevent an anticipated situation, unpleasant event, or someone else’s action from happening. Preventative and deterrent measures. Proactive and precautionary. Acting in advance of a situation - such as conflict, sin, temptation - to prevent it guided by God’s love and wisdom. It means engaging in proactive obedience, preparing spiritually for trials, and showing love or forgiveness before.

  • Collective - describes things, actions or decisions involving all members of a group acting together, rather than individually. A shared effort, total or collaborative body. The corporate identity, unity and shared responsibility of God’s people. The Ekklesia - a “called out” community of believers. A holy nation. The Body of Christ.

  • Preemptive Prayer - Looks into the future, sees what’s likely ahead, and specifically asks God for wisdom, protection and favor. Prayer in this sense is preparation for what is coming, for what we are about to do. It acknowledges our future is in God’s hands.
